Abstract
The ordinary American rule is that all parties must pay their own attorney fees. However, in some Civil Rights lawsuits the prevailing plaintiff's attorney is entitled to a reasonable attorney fee. This presentation discusses the basis for allowing this fee and the service that civil rights attorneys provide for society at large.
